At 17:30 on July 19th, 2018, with the pouring completion of the last slab lining concrete from Beijing to Zhangjiakou high-speed rail Donghuayuan tunnel, it marks that the tunnel used in cut and cover method without maintenance in the deep foundation pit of the longest water-rich area in China have been finished successfully. As a auxiliary project for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, Jingzhang high-speed rail is also the first intelligent high-speed railway in China. It is the first time that the automatic control precipitation and early warning system as well as new material robot spraying and waterproof technology is applied in the domestic high-speed railway tunnel, which filling a series of domestic blanks.
Donghuayuan tunnel, located in the Donghuayuan Town, Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, is 4970 meters long. The tunnel is closely adjacent to the environmentally sensitive areas such as the Guanting reservoir, the Kangxi grassland and the Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park. Heavy excavation and deep foundation pit are applied in the tunnel, so the construction technology is difficult. It is reported that the journey time between Beijing and Zhangjiakou will be shortened from the present 3.5 hours to one hour after the opening of Jingzhang railway. At the same time, it will be in line with the two high-speed rail lines Datong-Zhangjiakou and Hohehot-Zhangjiakou. At that time, Zhangjiakou will be a new rail transport hub of three high-speed rails’intersection in the northwest direction of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
